I’ve seen developers work all weekend on complex problems discovered at 4pm on a Friday. Designers work overnight because the bar was set high. Yet, people rarely work at their full potential.
Maybe the job is boring or the boss expects too little by accepting mediocre work. Ordinary expectations are self-defeating; it’s hard to get motivated when tasks are redundant and easy to accomplish.
Be demanding, high expectations are stimulating. Challenge employees and team members; force them to show you how good they can be. People want to see their potential as much you want to see it (Sangeeth Varghese).
